CHUBLUB & FRIENDS
From Character Concept to Product Design
Chublub & Friends is an original character design project exploring how simple, personality-driven creatures can be developed across illustration, storytelling, 3D sculpting, plush design, surface pattern design, and product applications.
The project began with Chublub as the foundational character and expanded into a small cast of creatures with distinct silhouettes, personalities, flaws, and favorite objects. Each character was designed to feel recognizable in both 2D and physical formats, with applications including zipper pulls, keychains, sculpted charms, mugs, textile artwork, laptop skins, plush concepts, and a vinyl toy prototype.
CHUBLUB
Chublub is cheerful, friendly, and always ready to dance or sing his “Chub” song. He loves being around others and wants to go everywhere with you, but he has absolutely no sense of direction and is very likely to wander off.
Personality: Friendly, cheerful, positive, eager to help
Flaws: No sense of direction, terrible at math
Favourite things: Rainbows and candy apples
Favourite colour: All the colors
BABY CHUBLUB
A younger character variant with a shorter, rounder body, stubby horns, a pacifier, and a perpetually innocent expression. Like Chublub, he is happy and curious — and very likely to wander off.
NUFF
Nuff believes he is a rabbit, but he is not a rabbit. He is a Nuff. Stubborn, thoughtful, and easily frustrated, Nuff is often seen dragging around a giant carrot — not because he likes carrots, but because he thinks it makes him look more rabbit-like.
Personality: Determined, thoughtful, stubborn
Flaws: Easily frustrated, pushy
Favourite things: Carrots, but only because carrots are essential to his rabbit branding
Favourite colour: Orange
HABBU
Habbu is easygoing and slow to start the day. He is not a morning person. While generally relaxed and good-natured, Habbu can be lazy, easily distracted, and difficult to motivate before coffee. Usually seen clutching an enormous mug of coffee that is as big as a bowl.
Personality: Easygoing, relaxed, good-natured
Flaws: Lazy, easily distracted, not a morning person
Favourite things: Coffee
Favourite colour: Yellow
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT & APPLICATIONS
After developing the core characters, I explored how the Chublub & Friends world could translate into physical products, accessories, surface patterns, and collectible objects. These applications include plush design, vinyl toy prototype, sculpted charms, 2D zipper pulls, drinkware, textile artwork, and lifestyle products.
